Brahma is not like other synthetic leashes you may have tried. This horse-strength material is manufactured mainly for horse tack so we know it’s extremely strong and reliable. If you need a low-maintenance, care-free leash that will hold up to you’re dog’s shenanigans and not get gross or give you rope burn, then BLD’s Brahma Leads are what you’ve been looking for.

Choose the width:
*If you are looking for the Brahma XS THIN, LIGHT version for small breeds or puppies click here.
- ½” wide (12.7 mm): Suitable for most dogs and is very sturdy for medium and large breeds
- ¾” wide (19 mm): For large breeds as this is a heavy-duty line (not recommended for dogs under 80 pounds)
Length:
Established lengths include: 4ft, 6ft, 8ft, 10ft, 15ft, 20ft, 33ft, and 50ft.
If you need a length that is not listed: Order the next size up and under other Other Custom Requests select “make it shorter” write in the desired length. (Example: if you want 12 feet, order the 15 ft.)
Handle Styles available:
- Regular Loop Handle (most popular!)
- Regular Loop Handle with a loose O-ring in the handle loop
- End in an O-Ring (no handle loop)
- Bolt Snap on Handle End (no handle loop)
- No Handle (no handle loop or hardware): Great for Tracking leads!
- Open Handle (bolt snap that clips to a fixed O-ring 18″ from the end): Overall length is measured with the handle loop closed.
Other Customization:
- Distance Marker: a smooth marker rivet. Example: you may want a distance marker at 6 feet from the dog end on a 10-foot leash. Perfect for CGC training! (marker fob no longer available)
- Quick-Grab handle: add a second handle loop for convenience. Example: you may want a handle at 3 feet from the dog end to hold your dog close. Quick-Grab Handles are made with the center of the handle grip at the requested measurement. Please note: Due to the length of handle, and hardware, used to form the Quick-Grab Handle, requests made that are 18″ or less from the dog end will be crafted at the dog end.

Hardware:
- STAINLESS STEEL bolt snaps (silver looks great on all colors). These are the highest quality and most reliable leash snaps we've found.
- SOLID BRASS bolt snaps available upon request, however we don't care for the clash with hunter orange. :) NOTE: In rare instances brass may tarnish and rub off on light colored / white dogs

Assembly Method:
- 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch widths are assembled with solid brass Chicago screws; nickel plated screws are used with stainless steel hardware.
- Skinny 3/8 inch width is assembled with rivets

Stainless Steel Bolt Snaps (silver color) are standard.
- Scissor/trigger style snaps are available. Please know we don’t recommend these as they are not as reliable as our standard bolt snap.
- Our exclusive Locking Carabiner Snap comes in all sizes. Choose this if you desire a snap that can lock closed, ideal for “Houdini” dogs that somehow shake loose of regular leash snaps. Must be used in the locked position.
- Alligator Locking Jaw Snaps are available for XL 3/4″ and XXL 1″ wide leashes ONLY. These are heavy-duty snaps designed for working/police/military dog applications. Made in Italy from solid bronze.
- Shackle Snap / panic release are available for XL 3/4″ and XXL 1″ wide leashes ONLY. Custom fabricated for BLD with a swivel, this snap is very secure under heavy load, and can be released instantly by pulling the release cord.
- 24″ stainless steel chain with bolt snap is a chew-resistant option for XL 3/4″ wide leashes ONLY. Replaces 2 feet of material at the “dog end.”

Warranty is limited to replacement or repair of covered product only, and does not cover things outside of our control such as chewing, neglect, misuse, normal wear, external trauma or damage from an accident, or customer alterations. Customer is responsible for all related shipping costs.
FYI: Even if the item is not covered it often can be made functional again with a repair for a reasonable cost.
Exclusions: Items we don’t make in our workshop, such as accessories and consumable items, and items made of cloth/fabric are excluded. Non-leather and non-Brahma items, bldBASICS, any item sold "as-is", used, on clearance, that is imperfect and any item marked with a star is excluded from this warranty or guarantee. Some customized options may be excluded from warranty; such excluded items will be sold with information indicating a warranty is not included.

During COVID I swiched my leashes to the Brahma so I could disenfect them and I fell in love with them. I also use the 20 ft Brahma long line as its easier to control, doesn’t burn my hands and is less likely to tangle up in the dogs legs. Excelent product and much better quality than some of the other variations that I’ve seen people order elsewhere.

Great work. I purchased a 33 feet 1/2″ brahma long line I use for tracking and hiking. I have recommended this to others often and it is so nice to be able to get just what you need.
If I did it again, I would have gone with leather and not been afraid of the extra work conditioning it. Love the feel of leather lines in my hand since the brahma can be slippery sometimes.
Suggestions –
1. More colors :) I would have bought this a lot sooner with more brahma color options. It would be nice to match some of the other gear you sell too.
2. More premade options for common lengths (tracking, nosework commonly use 33 feet/10m and 10-15 foot lengths respectively)
3. Climbing carabiner as an option. Security is super important to a lot of longline buyers and the carabiner/clip shopping experience can be a little confusing for finding the most secure

Just bought a 33′ teal Brahma tracking lead at Clicker Expo Saint Louis this weekend. I did not catch the names of the salespeople but they were very kind, helpful, informative, and not at all pushy or coercive. I arrived back home today and got the chance to use my lead with my dog in a huge field where we go to play fetch. The brilliant color showed up perfectly against the grass! At one point my dog did unfortunately yank me toward another dog, and the lead was wrapped around my hand – I have ZERO rope burn. No injury at all really. The brahma material is incredible and safe to boot! The leash was very easy to wind back up on the way back to the car, and didn’t tangle at all. I’m very impressed and 100% satisfied with my purchase.

Love my 10 meter orange lead. My German Shepard Pit Bull mix puppy cannot break or damage this thing and he is currently 10 months old, not neutered and 80 lbs. He has chewed on it but I do not see any damage. We live and play in the mountains, rivers and on the beach. Works great in water. It is easy to handle no matter how wet and dirty it gets. The more you use it the better it is. I am impressed at its resistance to tangling. I have never had it tangle on me. The orange color has been a great safety feature. We use the caddy and I feel it is a must with the longer leads.

I have two of these leads now and absolutely love them! The material is sturdy and holds up in all weather conditions and it’s not too prone to wrapping up around my dogs’ legs. Being able to choose from a wide variety of lengths makes it so easy to personalize this to your needs. (I have a 10′ and a 20′.) I was a little skeptical since it’s narrower than my usual leashes, but the 1/2″ width works perfectly for my 40-50 pound dogs. The addition of new colors has only made this product better! The only thing I’d like to see for the future are options for padded handles and elastic “pulling” protection.

I bought this lead in the 15 foot length to work my GSD in nosework. We live in the Pacific Northwest so I was looking for some thing I could use during the wet season. The lead is great for all wet conditions and I have used it when we go to the river. It floats ,is water proof and the hunter orange can be seen in the water as well as in the late evening. The construction is top notch and the durability is great. It has a few scuffs from rocks and brush but that has not effected the strength integrity. The only con is it is a bit stiff, but I am use to the softness of a leather leash.

I ordered the 50 foot, 3/4 inch Brahma in orange. It’s been a great addition to my younger dog’s “outdoor wardrobe.” It’s a great and durable training good and it’s held up well through all the seasons. The lead has acquired some dark spots with age, but these do not seem to affect it’s durability or it suppleness. Great addition for dogs in training and when you need the flexibility of a long line without the expense of leather.

We bought a 33 foot, 1/2 inch Brahma orange lead for training our dogs. This is a really excellent product. We went on vacation and took our dogs out on the beaches where they could run free with the training leash attached. The orange shows up well even in the water. The lead is very strong and sand resistant, winds up well; good solid clasp. Just perfect for what we needed. The only caution would be to watch out for ‘rope burn’ on the hands. I learned about the Brahma leads through the trainer I work with and just ordered my first. The material is easy to take care of – wipes clean easily and does not absorb fluids. I purchased without the hand loop so it’s especially wonderful as a drag line when we’re training. It’s easy to handle and grip and the best material for use in water.

I really love the fact that this leash is made of a leather alternative, but is incredibly strong and durable. It’s also great because it isn’t affected by water, sand and dirt at all. It is easy to rinse off and dries quickly! I have the 6′ leash but I’m considering getting a longer one as well! Definitely recommend!!

I was givin a 6 foot lead as a gift a few years ago. I have to say that it is one of the best gift I have ever gotten & my ultimate go to leash. This lead has been used on 10lb puppies to an 80lb American Bulldog. It has been drug over and through grass, dirt, mud, water & concrete. A quick wipe down & it looks as good as new.

Amazing lead! We use it daily, and it still looks brand new (after 1 year). High quality materials at a good price point. My only suggestion would be to add minor texture so when wet (we train rain or shine), you would still have traction with the lead. Otherwise a great all around lead.

I have now purchased three of these leads, after being really impressed with the functionality of the first one. We like to go hiking in the woods and brush, and these leads don’t tangle, are easy to work with, don’t pick up brush and debris, and don’t get soaking wet, so our dogs are even able to go swimming.
In addition, one of our dogs is fearful, and would bolt if spooked. I feel very secure using these leads, because they are so well constructed.

Tough lead for active dogs! I have two of these in the longest length – one 3-4 inch orange for my 90 lb. bloodhound/golden retriever and a 1/2 inch for my daughter’s French bulldog. They are perfect for both for Montana where the dogs want to run free and swim but can’t because of wildlife. They almost think they are off leash!

I have purchased two Bramha leads to use with our head strong golden retriever! He never leaves the house or the car with out his lead. It has been absolutely amazing! He pulls that lead through anything and everything, and all I have to do is wash it off with soap and water if needed! On one occasion he got it caught on the edge of an old building, and of course he kept pulling, and really got the lead stuck . We had to pull and tug for quite a while, and it finally popped out! If we had done that with ANY other lead it would have broken!

We were very excited to try out our Brahma; Dog Lead in Soft Grip coated webbing (leather alternative) in black 10´ length [medium 1/2″ width]. Here is our honest review of the product ;
We have been using the lead for the last few weeks and have been enjoying its length, evident durability and the easy clean ´non-tacky´coating of the product. It has proven to be fantastically light (dainty) yet hard-wearing in various conditions – we enjoy, for example, that it is not as heavy as our normal leather leash and doesn´t get heavier when wet. It is perfect for both light and extreme trips with our dog (in or out of town). The only negative remarks we would make about the product is the difficulty of grasping the lead when it becomes frozen/cold and thus slippery in our gloves. Also, since our dog is quiet large we would purchase a larger clip + thickness of lead. Overall, we are quiet satisfied with the lead and will continue to use it along with our other Bold Designs lead.

I ordered a 50 foot long line and am absolutely thrilled with it! The huge amount of snow we currently have doesn’t make it slippery at all, and it isn’t showing any signs of wear. It is also comfortable in the hands, so even in warmer weather when you’re not wearing gloves, it will not give the rope burn effect like other long lines. It also doesn’t seem to tangle as easily as the average long line. I’m in love with this product!

I ordered a 50 foot one and absolutely love it! It doesn’t hurt when it tangles around my legs, doesn’t get slippery from the snow and is seems to be very durable. My dog is 70 lbs and very strong but even when she ran to the end of the line, it didn’t hurt my arm. I’m also happy that in the warmer weather when I don’t need to wear gloves, I won’t have to suffer rope burn if I don’t, unlike the other long lines I’ve used.

This is a fantastic lead. I used it with my 11 month old German Shorthair Pointer. The lead was easy to clean and incredibly strong. I was so impressed with it, I let my parents use it with their 7 month old doberman. They LOVED it! The 10 foot length was a perfect length for us. We also enjoyed how the lead had a bit of weight on it, which really made a difference when working on recalls with the dogs. Fantastic product! Might get one in orange!!!

I’ve been using the new Brahma lead for about a week now. I train dogs in AKC style trailing and I usually use 20 and 30 foot leather leads. The Brahma material feels good in the hand and doesn’t get slippery when wet. It doesn’t absorb water, so it dries quickly and is easy to work with. The material is a little bit stiff at first, same as new leather, but with a little work it seems to be loosening up…again, similar to leather. Overall I am impressed with the product and will continue to use it for trailing. This is a great utility material that is much cheaper than leather.

Love the new line! I have ordered leads of similar material from other manufacturers but the workmanship on yours is exquisite. I have the brown 1/2″ lead with lovely brass accents. The best part about these leads is that I can trekking through a muddy field and then just quickly wipe it clean before putting it away. I hope to get a few more in the thinner size too!
