Shipping Ninja aka Shipping & Workshop Assistant

Position Summary:

Bold Lead Designs, an internationally recognized dog gear maker, seeks a capable individual to pack, ship, and assist with a variety of workshop tasks in a challenging and fast-paced yet, laid back environment. Position requires a commitment to accuracy, excellent attention to detail, basic computer knowledge and a proactive, cheerful disposition.

Come work for a rapidly growing artisan company in a small workshop facility with a fun, diverse team. Must love dogs and enjoy working around others.

Regular weekday, daytime schedule, approx. 20 hours per week. Ideal candidate is available Monday through Friday, 11am – 3pm.  Additional hours and flexibility may be available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Assurance: Final order inspection to assure the quality of handcrafted product and verify accuracy of customer order.
  • Packing: Identify the most efficient and cost effective method of shipping, select the appropriate supplies and wrap products according to provided guidelines.
  • Labeling: Print labels using various methods, primarily through Quickbooks interface but also using USPS, FedEx and DHL websites. Training will be provided, as needed.
  • Order Completion: Complete order process, including but not limited to, marking orders completed via websites, entering tracking information and scanning documents when needed.
  • Organization & Inventory: Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion. Responsible for tracking shipping supplies and communicating inventory needs.
  • Provide support for daily operations and other administrative tasks as needed, such as light cleaning, preparing information packets and light assembly.

Job Requirements, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate excellent work ethic and reliability
  • Must be organized, thoughtful, and highly detail oriented
  • Understand and follow written and verbal direction
  • Have practical mathematics and measuring skills calculate dimensions and efficiently package product.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as required
  • Ability to switch tasks quickly to accommodate shifting shop priorities, while maintaining accuracy
  • General computer skills and comfort with Windows, Office Suite products are a must
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks, shipping and labeling, and/or e-commerce are a plus; specific training to be provided

Physical Conditions/requirements:

  • Skilled with hands, high dexterity
  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds
  • Able to stand at workbenches and reach materials stored at high and low positions
  • Comfort in a small, diverse workshop environment with large breed dogs and people with disabilities
  • A Background check will be performed

The following experience is helpful, but not required:

  • Knowledge of dogs, and/or animal behavior is super helpful
  • Packing/shipping, production, assembly, or inventory experience
  • Previous experience using Quickbooks, retail and/or online sales (e-commerce) platforms
  • Experience with diverse groups and/or people with disabilities preferred
  • Knowledge about our unique small business and mission

Production Assistant

Position Summary:

Local artisan pet product manufacturer seeks a creative problem solver with great attention to detail to assist in the creation of the highest quality handcrafted leather pet products. Position requires a cheerful, capable individual with a commitment to superior quality and craftsmanship who loves working with his/her hands, enjoys a variety of projects and tasks in a challenging and engaging environment.  Enjoy the satisfaction of making meaningful, functional products in a fast-paced yet laid back environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Make product for stock inventory and customer orders, including leather dog collars, leashes and harnesses to high quality standards
  • Demonstrate excellent work ethic, commitment to quality, dedication to the company mission
  • Follow written specifications for product assembly, document product specifications as required
  • Inspect completed products and customer orders for quality assurance
  • Work with hand tools, operate light industrial equipment, including heavy sewing machine, manual press, etc.
  • Support production team with daily operations and other tasks as needed
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks including inventory, shipping, packaging, light metal work, cleaning, other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret product specifications, customer job orders, accurately measure and cut parts, calculate dimensions, and organize parts
  • Eye for accuracy, highly efficient, solutions oriented, reliable and responsible
  • Excellent craftsmanship and materials handling (leather, hardware components, metal, and related parts)
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to continuous changes
  • Experience working with hands, either professionally or personally
  • Ability to cross-train into non-manufacturing processes and other areas of the business
  • Kitchen, food prep, bartending, assembly, machine shop, metal work, production, assembly, inventory, art/sculpture, packing/shipping, leather work, commercial sewing, or related hands-on experience

Physical Conditions/requirements:

  • Skilled with hands, high dexterity
  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds
  • Use hand tools, simple machinery, industrial sewing machine, and related equipment
  • Able to stand at workbenches and reach materials stored at high and low positions
  • Work in close quarters with others and large breed dogs, sharing workspaces, tools and equipment
