These clearance Perfect Pace™ were mistakenly made in a thicker/heavier leather from our standard. There’s bit more weight to the halter, but also more strength!

About the Perfect Pace Products

The Perfect Pace is a halter/head collar designed to stop your dog from pulling and lunging on the leash. The comfortable figure-eight design fits around your dog’s upper neck and snout, crisscrossing under the chin. The lead comes off the top of the neck, eliminating pressure on the throat and it does not pull the dog’s face to the side or irritate the eyes. The lightweight construction is strong yet comfortable for your dog and in your hands. The Perfect Pace halter/leash is available in three different materials: smooth nylon, woven, and leather. How the Perfect Pace Works: When your dog pulls pressure is applied gently behind the head and under the jaw: these pressure points are calming for your dog, which encourages focus. The upward pressure raises your dog’s head and reminds them to pay attention to you with less resistance.

Safer and Healthier for Your Dog: Other head collars/halters prompt people to “steer” their dog around by the face. The Perfect Pace motivates your dog to pay attention to you so that they can learn good behavior and leash manners.

Simple & Humane: For many dogs, the Perfect Pace is more natural and effective than other training tools and is a great training solution for dogs that are stronger than their handlers (or that don’t respond well to other training tools). Many dogs prefer this style of halter because the leash does not dangle under their chin or force them to turn their head and the lightweight, minimal design is less annoying than other halters. Professional dog trainers love this training tool because it is not aversive!

Training Tip! For best results, we recommend using positive reinforcement training to desensitize your dog to the sensation of the halter on his snout before using this product. The novelty of “stuff on my face” can be distracting for some dogs, but with positive reinforcement, your dog can quickly learn to accept it!

Not a Muzzle: Dogs can pant, eat treats, drink, and pick up toys while wearing this halter.

Leather Perfect Pace DOG HALTER Only Style

The halter only version has an O-ring to clip on your own leash. Leash not included.

Measure your dog for the best fit. Measure your dog’s neck snugly, just behind the head.

Available in the following sizes:

Small/Medium 20-60 pounds, up to 14” neck; Corgi, Border Collie, small Retrievers, etc. *For dogs that are 20-30 pounds, there may be more slack between the dog and where the leash clips to the halter.
Large 60-100 pounds, up to 18” neck; Shepherds, Rottweilers, most Retrievers, etc.
X-Large 100-140 pounds, up to 22” neck; Danes, Mastiffs, etc.

If in doubt, size up. A larger halter will fit a smaller dog, there will simply be more slack between the dog’s head and the leash clip.

*For neck sizes larger than 22″ we recommend using the Perfect Pace Halter Leash (see sizing information below).

Leather Perfect Pace HALTER LEASH Style

The all-in-one leash and halter version fits any size dog!**
The halter and leash are one continuous piece of material and self-adjusts to the dog’s head size.

Available in Regular Length, which is approximately 4ft. of leash. (NOT available in longer length, sorry leather is only so long)

*The actual length of the leash portion will depend on the dog’s head/neck size.

**Almost any size dog. Dogs must be 20 pounds or larger and cannot have a short/flat muzzle. Do not use on smaller dogs or any dog with a flat face, shortened muzzle or breathing problems.

Width Options:

The leather Perfect Pace are available in two different widths:

The leather Perfect Pace halter leash is sturdier and more durable! Our flexible leather is the best quality you’ll find anywhere–the edges are beveled for a smooth & comfortable feel.

The leather Perfect Pace halter leashes are available in two different widths:

Regular: 3/8” wide
WIDE: ½” wide

Black leather with stainless steel/ silver colored hardware
Tan leather with brass/gold colored hardware.

Our Golden TAN BRIDLE leather is 100% American vegetable-tanned leather, made with NO dyes or toxic metallic chemicals. Reminiscent of fine English horse tack, this leather is superior in quality to any other leash you’ve seen. Every leash is HAND-OILED to bring out the softness, so your leash arrives supple and feels great in your hands immediately and only improves with age. The color will darken with use and age.

Our lovely BLACK LATIGO leather is cut from select USA hides– it is solid black and is superior to ordinary leashes in texture and quality. It is incredibly durable, yet is very flexible. It feels great in your hands and will simply get better with age.

Leather care is easy! Don’t worry too much, and don’t be afraid to use your items — we promise leather is incredibly resilient, and regular weather won’t hurt it. If you think your item looks dirty, dry, or just need a little extra love, pouring a little leather conditioner on a cloth, and rubbing it in like lotion will usually do the trick. Baths and a jaunt in the river are just fine, but you might want to offer a little conditioner to your products afterwards. Saltwater can be harsh, so after a visit to the ocean, a good rinse in fresh water and proper conditioning will help preserve and protect your treasured leash or collar.
