BLD’s Brahma 8-Way Lead ™ is a multifunctional leash that has 8 different positions, including a hands-free over-the-shoulder option. Crafted from Brahma Soft-Grip Material, this leash is approximately 82” from bolt snap to bolt snap (~6.75 feet), can make a 6, 4 ½, & 3 ½-foot lead, and has a floating ring for a slip-collar.

Description
The six foot long 8-Way Lead™ is our most popular leash design. This European style, multi-functional lead is so versatile it’s like having eight leashes in one!
Our standard 8-Way Lead is just over six feet long at approximately 82 inches/208cm long from bolt snap to bolt snap. It features a bolt snap at each end, 3 fixed rings, and one loose ring. This leash does NOT HAVE A LOOP HANDLE, rather it has a bolt snap at each end so you can use the leash in any configuration. All Brahma leads are assembled with screw posts (no braids).
Functionality Highlights
- Can be shortened or lengthened to make a 6, 4 ½, or 3 ½ foot lead
- Excellent as a hands-free leash that can be worn across your body by placing the leash over your shoulder (approximately 4.5 ft. from your shoulder to the dog)
- Dual Control Option: you can connect one end of the leash to a training collar, and one to the regular collar
- Great for use with head collars or harnesses
- Excellent for Schutzhund/protection work, obedience training, service dogs, and everyday use
- This multi-functional lead can be clipped to a collar or harness, or may be used as a slip-collar for effective yet gentle training

There are several options available for you to select from when ordering your new leash:
- Available with a belt feature ($): Selecting this option will add an Adjustable Ring and fob to the middle section of the leash to allow the leash to be worn hands-free around the waist.
- 8×8 version ($): Same features, just longer! Eight-foot-long 8×8 Lead makes an 8, 6, or 4 1/2-foot lead. When worn hands-free over the shoulder, it’s approximately 6 ft. from your shoulder to the dog. Approximately 105? from bolt snap to bolt snap, this extra-long lead is designed for tall or larger people and/or short or small breed dogs. Made to order. Select the option “Make it Longer” to order this version.
- Chew Resistant Chain version ($): This variation is made with a premium stainless-steel chain at the dog-end for dogs that are tempted to bite at their leash. This option replaces the Brahma at the “dog end” of the leash with 24 inches of chain and omits the loose ring feature. If you wish to use the collar feature, simply clip the snap directly to the chain. Made to order. Select the hardware option to “Make with Chew Resistant Chain.” Only available in ¾” wide (19 mm).

The 8-Way Lead™ is always the same length of approximately 82 inches/208cm from bolt snap to bolt snap, making it just over 6 feet long.
Also available in an eight-foot-long 8×8 Lead! It has the same features as the 8-Way lead, only longer! Available Brahma widths:
- ½” wide (12.7 mm) for most dogs, medium and large breeds. Most popular size!
- ¾” wide (19 mm) for large breeds, this is a heavy-duty leash (not recommended for dogs under 80 pounds)
Hardware:
- STAINLESS STEEL bolt snaps (silver looks great on all colors). These are the highest quality and most reliable leash snaps we've found.
- SOLID BRASS bolt snaps available upon request, however we don't care for the clash with hunter orange. :) NOTE: In rare instances brass may tarnish and rub off on light colored / white dogs
About Brahma Soft Grip:
Strong as a Brahma bull, this man-made leather alternative has a nice weight and grip that is more leather-like than other leash material!- Constructed with poly webbing on the inside and a durable, non-tacky PVC coating on the outside
- Brahma is waterproof and great for any extreme weather condition; it is resilient in cold weather and is unaffected by baking hot cars in the summer

Assembly Method:
- 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch widths are assembled with solid brass Chicago screws; nickel plated screws are used with stainless steel hardware.
- Skinny 3/8 inch width is assembled with rivets

Note: as with other synthetic materials, the lead can build up static and attract dust and hair. But it easily wipes right off.

If your leather or Brahma leash, training equipment, or harness ever breaks or is damaged from regular use, simply contact Bold Lead Designs for a replacement or repair at no charge. There is no time limit. This is the best warranty in the industry.
Warranty is limited to replacement or repair of covered product only, and does not cover things outside of our control such as chewing, neglect, misuse, normal wear, external trauma or damage from an accident, or customer alterations. Customer is responsible for all related shipping costs.
FYI: Even if the item is not covered it often can be made functional again with a repair for a reasonable cost.
Exclusions: Items we don’t make in our workshop, such as accessories and consumable items, and items made of cloth/fabric are excluded. Non-leather and non-Brahma items, bldBASICS, any item sold "as-is", used, on clearance, that is imperfect and any item marked with a star is excluded from this warranty or guarantee. Some customized options may be excluded from warranty; such excluded items will be sold with information indicating a warranty is not included.

I got this leash about seven years ago, I believe. It lasted well for a long time, but this past summer, it started getting stiff and cracking. It’s been retired to holding a fan to my dog’s car crate.
I’ll be sticking with leather in the future, as the leather leashes I got at the same time are still going strong. This leash also got very slippery when wet.
I like the 6ft length when working with a double-ended leash when I want to keep a dog close, like the SDITs I work with. The option for using it as a slip lead was very helpful many times when I found a loose dog on the road! This leash did live in my car mostly, which might have contributed to its fairly early demise. In our weather, it got very hot in the summer and occasionally dipped below freezing in the winter.

I just adopted a greyhound and this lead has been a life saver! The Brahma material is amazing. Feels like like well worn leather. It is tough as nails despite the soft feel. The multiple lead positions have been great to help my retired racer adjust. I LOVE the hands off feature! I will be getting the regular 6 foot lead. The craftsmanship on these leashes is outstanding! Well worth the price!

I was looking for a well made leash with several length options for working with guide dogs and service dogs in training. I work with our local prison socializing these dogs as they work towards their goal of being placed with either a blind person or someone with PTSD. Bold Lead Designs was recommended to me and I am very pleased with the leash I chose. I can keep a dog close to me to reinforce their heel position training, I can loop it over my shoulder if I need access to my hands while walking, I can make the leash longer when working on loose leash walking.
