Description
Perfect for dog training and off-leash exercises! Attach a Training Tab to your dog’s collar or harness so you can get a hold of the dog when needed. When worn on the collar, the tab touches the dog’s chest to remind them they are in training without interfering with their movement. Great for obedience, agility, fly ball, nose work, and house-training.
Braided Tabs makes a great fidget sensory toy! Customers have told us children with autism spectrum disorder and other sensory disorders enjoy the sensation of the braided leather, plus it can clip onto a belt or backpack so it’s always handy. The fantastic feel is a great de-stressor.
Size:
- Medium is 1/2″ wide, 8″ long (12.7 mm x 20 cm) with medium sized hardware
- Large is 5/8″ wide, 9″ long (19.5 mm x 23 cm) with large-sized hardware

About our leather:
BLACK LATIGO leather(Available in all widths.)
Our latigo is a lovely deep black and superior to ordinary leather in texture and quality. Latigo has a high tensile strength and tanned specifically for quality horse tack and premium pet products. Your leash will start out a bit firm yet flexible and will very quickly soften with just a few uses and continues to get better with age. The rich black color will not bleed or fade because it is struck through the leather in the tanning process, not just dyed on the surface. Made in North America from select heavy US native steer hides for durability, Stainless steel (silver color) hardware is standard.
English Bridle Leather in LONDON TAN(Available in 1/2 to 1 in. widths)
English bridle has a supple, satin-smooth finish and satisfying hand feel that is simply unmatched. This high-end leather in London Tan, cherished in the 19th century for the finest horse tack, ages to a warm patina while keeping its light brown and orange tones. This full grain leather is 100% veg tanned with no metals or harsh chemicals from only the best North American cow hides. ("English" refers to the style of tanning rather than a location. It does not darken the same our oiled golden tan leather.) Solid brass (gold colored) hardware is standard.
Golden TAN BRIDLE leather(Available in small 3/8 in. widths)
This lovely brown 100% American vegetable-tanned leather, made with NO dyes or toxic metallic chemicals. Reminiscent of fine English horse tack. Every golden tan leash is HAND-OILED to bring out the softness, so your leash arrives supple and feels great in your hands immediately and only improves with age. The color will darken with use and age. This is our choice leather for products where a lighter weight material with excellent strength is necessary. Solid brass (gold colored) hardware is standard.
Leather care is easy! Don’t worry too much, and don’t be afraid to use your items — we promise leather is incredibly resilient, and regular weather won’t hurt it. If you think your item looks dirty, dry, or just need a little extra love, pouring a little leather conditioner on a cloth, and rubbing it in like lotion will usually do the trick. Baths and a jaunt in the river are just fine, but you might want to offer a little conditioner to your products afterwards. Saltwater can be harsh, so after a visit to the ocean, a good rinse in fresh water and proper conditioning will help preserve and protect your treasured leash or collar. All Bold Lead Designs’ handcrafted leather & Brahma products that we make in our workshop are guaranteed against defects in materials and craftsmanship for life! If your leather lead, Brahma lead, training equipment, or harness ever breaks or is damaged from regular use, simply contact Bold Lead Designs for a replacement or repair at no charge. There is no time limit. This is the best warranty in the industry. If service is required, please see Warranty Claims & Repair Service below. Warranty is limited to replacement or repair of covered product only, and does not cover things outside of our control such as chewing, neglect, misuse, normal wear, external trauma, or customer alterations. Bold Lead Designs reserves the right to determine if a repair or replacement is covered by our warranty. Items we don’t make in our workshop, such as accessories and consumable items, are excluded. Please contact us first so we can help determine the best way to get you taken care of! If the product sustained damage under normal use, and is covered under warranty, we will make it right at no charge (just pay for shipping). Non-warranty repairs and alterations may be available, even for chewing and external damage. Repair costs start at $5 plus shipping. We will provide an accurate quote upon assessing the damage. What to do: Tell us what product you have and what the issue is. If you can, please email us photos of the damage so that we can determine the best solution (repair, replacement, or something else). Usually we will have you mail the item to us, in which case we ask that you send the item to us with a completed Warranty-Repair Form. Please download, fill it in, print, and include with your return. All warranty claims and repairs must be accompanied by the form otherwise we won’t know what to do with your item when received. So perfect for offleash hikes. It’s much easier to grab this handle than just a collar on my shaggy dog, and clipping a leash to the ring when we’re getting close to roads/parking lots is great. My dog frequently takes this into the creek with him and with occasional conditioning, it’s still in good shape after years of use.

Really love the fully-braided, medium width ones as portable fidget/sensory objects. They really help me with regulation, to the point where I’m a little nervous about what would happen if I inadvertently go out without one. Always have my favorite one clipped to a belt loop, as well as one on my service dog’s harness and bags. Once they’re broken in, they’re so smooth & pliable, and are really quiet too. I’m sure these would also make great training tabs for your dog’s collar, which is what their original use is.

I do nose work with my dogs and I discovered when I started with my older girl that it was much easier to grab a tab hanging off her harness (rather than the harness itself) to hold her before an off-leash search or to catch her after we were done. I had gotten so used to it that I felt like something was missing from my youngster’s harness. I finally got so tired of switching who had the tab or forgetting to switch altogether that I decided to buy another one. I really liked the leashes I got here last year, so I ordered a thin tab with a big knot in the end, which has worked great for holding back my crazy youngster at the start lines before our searches (and is surprisingly comfortable even when she’s straining full speed ahead to get started).

Overall I love this training tab when working with my dog. The only setback to the large training tab is that it frequently comes off of my dog’s HS prong because the clip is so large.

Do you have a dog that acts really good the second you put a leash on them? I do but didn’t want to have her dragging her nice leash around so I found this magic Training Tab.
