This leather collar has a unique Conway adjustment buckle that is smooth on the inside and won’t irritate your dog, plus, there's no excess "tail" to flap about.

These beautiful leather collars are made from the same premium full grain equestrian leathers and hardware as our awesome leads (none of the cheap stuff found on most pet collars). Edges of the leather are beveled for a smooth edge for comfort and to protect your dog’s coat. There are no rivets or stitching to wear out or come undone. 

NOTE: Electronic devices will not fit this collar, our quality materials are too thick. In rare situations, brass can oxidize and rub off on white or light colored dogs.

Measuring:

Measure your dog’s neck as you want the collar to fit. Order the size that matches your dog’s neck size.

Add an extra ring: You may add a loose O-ring to your collar if you’d like. The ring will be loose along the length of the collar, perfect for attaching the leash.

Sometimes called a half-check or limited-slip collar, it's designed to fit loosely, then partially tighten enough with leash pressure so the dog cannot back out of the collar. It's a great choice for small nervous dogs as well as large powerful dogs. 

We've re-designed our popular Martingale Collar with a wider selection of neck sizes and widths from 5/8 inch wide for small dogs, and up to 1 1/2 inch wide for large breeds.

FAQS

Frequently asked questions about BLD Martingale Collars: 

Do you offer a clip-on style? For safety concerns, we no longer offer the clip-on style. 

Can you add a quick release type buckle? No, sorry. Quick release type buckles are not available because the hardware required to make them takes up more than half of the dog's neck size.

Can I change the hardware to brass or gold color? No, sorry. We've discontinued the brass chains because the oxidation can stain dog's fur.

I'm not sure what width is best for my dog. What do you recommend? If your dog has a lighter frame, or is sensitive to gear, choose the narrower option. If your dog is burley and thick, like bull dogs and bully breeds, the wider option would be great. 

My dog's neck is in between sizes. What size should I order? Our collars are designed with a little extra room than the stated size range. If your dog is young and in-between sizes, size up to allow a little room should your dog fill out or gain weight. A larger collar can always be adjusted smaller.

The Leather Perfect Pace is available in two styles:

Leather Perfect Pace DOG HALTER Style (teal package) - use with your own leash

The head halter only version has an O-ring at the end to connect your leash.

• Small, not available in leather – size up to the medium
• Medium, dogs 30-65 pounds, up to 16″ neck; Border Collie, Husky, Aussie, Smaller Retrievers, etc.
• Large dogs 65-100 pounds, up to 19” neck; Shepherds, Rottweilers, larger Retrievers, etc.
• X-Large dogs 100-140 pounds, up to 22” neck; Newfoundland, Great Danes, Mastiffs, etc. 

Measure your dog for the best fit: Measure around your dog’s neck snugly, just behind the head.

If in doubt, size up. A larger halter will fit a smaller dog, there will simply be more slack between the dog’s head and the leash clip. Not for dogs with short/flat muzzles.**

The all-in-one leash and halter version fits any size dog!**
The halter and leash are one continuous piece of material and self-adjusts to the dog’s head size. The leash portion is approximately 4ft. of leash in two different widths:

• Regular: 3/8” wide for most dogs
• WIDE: ½” wide for big dogs

The actual length of the leash portion will depend on the dog’s head/neck size. Leather version is not available in longer length, due to the size of cowhides.

** Dogs must be 20 pounds or larger. Do not use on smaller dogs or any dog with a short/flat face. Not recommended for brachycephalic dogs with shortened muzzles, dogs with breathing problems, soft or narrow tracheas or similar medical conditions; consult your veterinarian if you have questions or concerns.

About the Material

The original woven material is a 3/8" wide soft, braided tubular material has no hard edges to irritate your dog. It's very lightweight yet strong. It is available in several colors and patterns.

It has a cord-lock adjustment to fit it to your dog. It's super simple to adjust the fit: just press the spring-loaded button to slide it down to the back of the dog's head, or to take it off, slide it away from the dog's head.

About the Material

Smooth Nylon Material

The 1/2 inch wide, silky-smooth tubular material has no hard edges to irritate your dog and is a bit wider than the original woven material to offer increased comfort and pressure distribution. The smooth material is now more durable to resist fraying and snags, and is great for long haired dogs as it doesn’t tangle the fur. It is available in several colors including black, blue, red, and white.

The smooth nylon Perfect Pace package includes rubber chin rings: The optional rubber chin ring can be added to keep the halter in the figure-eight shape and may stop the halter from sliding to the side. Directions are included.
