Katrina started Bold Lead Designs because she couldn’t find a leash she truly liked. What began as a creative solution for her own dogs turned into a passion for crafting dependable, high-quality leather gear.
Her first creation, the Working Dog Lead, remains a customer favorite to this day.

Katrina’s story began when she couldn’t find a leash she truly liked, so she made one herself.
That single handcrafted leash became the foundation of Bold Lead Designs.

The A-Ha Moment
When friends and trainers saw Katrina’s handmade leash, they all wanted one.
Their enthusiasm revealed something bigger, people everywhere needed gear that truly worked for them and their dogs.
That realization led her to officially start Bold Lead Designs in 2008.
Designing for Service Dogs
In 2009, Freedom Service Dogs called Katrina with a challenge, could she design a balance and mobility harness that really worked?
She took on the task, building and testing prototypes until the Mobility Support Harness was born.
Today, it’s trusted by service dog teams around the world.
Growing the Workshop
From a spare room to a thriving Colorado workshop, Katrina has built a team that shares her dedication to craftsmanship, compassion, and purpose.
Together, they create handcrafted gear that improves lives, for dogs and the people who depend on them.
