Hardware changes start at just $6. Total customization cost varies depending on the type of leash snap(s) selected.

First, select what type of customization you want: Change Hardware Color Only OR Change the Leash Snap

Change Hardware Color Only: Change from the product standard to the "other color"

  • Order "change the hardware color" for a tan leash to get silver hardware
  • Order "change the hardware color" for a black leash to get brass hardware

Change the leash snap hardware: Leashes come standard with swivel bolt snaps, these are the most reliable and durable snaps we've found. Select another style of snap if desired. 

  • All hardware on the product will be made to MATCH the color of the snap you choose! (There's no need to order "change hardware color" if you're changing the leash snap)
  • Please be sure to select the width that matches the leash you are ordering. You will then choose from hardware that will fit that size.
  • Some leash snaps are only made in one type of metal. For example, scissor snaps are stainless steel, and carabiners are only solid brass. All options are available are shown.

Small 3/8" Hardware

Bolt Snaps are the standard hardware. These are the most reliable leash snaps and are highly recommended. Medium sized bolt snaps are available if you like larger hardware.

Locking Carabiner: This is a fantastic choice for security, and is also small and light, great for little dogs. This solid brass snap is a custom fabricated BLD exclusive! hard-to-find snap. Be sure to close the snap completely when in use.

Medium 1/2" hardware

Bolt Snaps are the standard hardware. These are the most reliable leash snaps and are highly recommended. Smaller and larger bolt snaps are available if you want a different size than the standard medium snap.

You may also choose from the following: 

  • Scissor / Trigger: Premium quality Stainless Steel snap available in medium 1/2" and larger. NOTE: this is a less reliable selection; consider using a Safety Cord as a backup attachment.
  • Locking Carabiner: This is a fantastic choice for security. This solid brass snap is a custom fabricated BLD exclusive! hard-to-find snap. Be sure to close the snap completely when in use. Solid brass (gold color) available in small, medium, XL and XXL.
  • Spring/Lever snaps: The gate hinges into the snap, easy to use. NOTE: this is a less reliable selection; consider using a Safety Cord as a backup attachment.
Large 5/8" hardware

Hardware for large 5/8 wide leashes

Bolt Snaps are the standard hardware. These are the most reliable leash snaps and are highly recommended. You can select a smaller bolt snap if lighter hardware is desired.

  • Scissor / Trigger: Premium quality Stainless Steel snap available in medium 1/2" and larger. NOTE: this is a less reliable selection; consider using a Safety Cord as a backup attachment.
  • Spring/Lever snaps: The gate hinges into the snap, easy to use. NOTE: this is a less reliable selection; consider using a Safety Cord as a backup attachment.

XL 3/4" hardware
