Non-Refundable Charges

Modification and customization fees are not refundable due to the labor-intensive process of building a unique product to order. 

Shipping charges are not refundable because these are actual costs we’ve paid out. As a very small, niche, artisan business, we are not able to offer “free” shipping” in the way that big-box retailers and massive corporations can.

Restocking Fees

We reserve the right to charge a restocking fee if necessary. If a return falls outside of the conditions of our policies, for example the product is not new and in the original package, a restocking fee is necessary due to the additional processing and reduced product value.

Limitation of Damages:

Guarantee/Warranty is limited to replacement or repair of product only. Bold Lead Designs, LLC, or its associates, cannot be responsible for any claims or liabilities beyond the scope of the guarantee. Chewing, neglect and misuse void all warranties. No other warranties, expressed or implied, are made. User assumes all responsibility for proper and safe use of product and care of animal. Customer pays for shipping for warranty claims.

International Shipments:

Delivery dates cannot be guaranteed on international orders. Once a package leaves the US it might not be traceable. The time for the customer’s country import customs department (border control) will vary based on volume or other factors. 

For international orders (shipped outside the USA): customer is responsible for any and all duties, taxes, tariffs, and customs fees that may be applied to your shipment; any duties will be collected from the delivery agent, and cannot be estimated or paid by BLD.

You may receive a notification from the delivery agent. The notification may come as a card in the post service and requires action for delivery to be completed.

If a delivery is refused and/or duties are not paid, incurred shipping charges and expenses cannot be refunded (customer pays for all expenses to return order back to BLD).  If your package is not claimed or is refused, it is generally sent back to us. This process can take many weeks to months. 

Service Dog Equipment Policies

Bold Lead Designs LLC does not evaluate, train, recommend, or provide service animals. We do not provide medical, veterinary, dog training or legal advice.

Bold Lead Designs product does not, and can not, determine legitimate status of a service animal, or guarantee access or accommodation for a disabled person. In no way shall BLD products, recommendations, and/or suggestions by BLD employees or associates be interpreted as legal, medical, or veterinary advice or treatment.

We reserve the right to refuse an order or service for any reason, but especially if we feel the minimum recommendations are not met and/or if misuse of the equipment is apparent.

Fit and performance of the equipment can only be assured if the dog meets the minimum recommended standards, the user and trainer have reasonable expectations, and when the equipment is used responsibly for the purpose it was designed.

Please read, understand the information laid out in product information booklets, and owner’s manual before using the product. Failure to observe or follow the guidelines and instructions could cause accident or injury.

BLD harnesses are not intended to serve as, or to replace, a durable medical device such as a cane, walker, or crutch. User assumes all responsibility for the safety, health, and care of the animal and human alike.

Dogs must be physically mature and of appropriate size, fitness and soundness for the work you would like them to perform. Mobility, stability, and balance assistance work are physically demanding. All dogs should be evaluated by an appropriately qualified veterinarian and cleared for work.  Dogs MUST be within our recommended weight/measurement range set forth in the sizing guide for the harness to fit and function properly.

Dogs should be fully mature before beginning harness work. The dog’s growth plates must be closed, and the musculoskeletal system fully mature before starting to train a dog for harness work. This happens for most large breed dogs at 18-24 months of age and giant breeds need even longer to mature. Please allow your dog time to grow and mature as rushing into harness work may cause injury and shorten your dog’s working life. Additionally, if the harness is ordered too soon it will cost you significantly more money if your dog outgrows the harness.

A service dog should always be in prime physical condition to remain healthy. Overweight dogs should never be expected to perform load bearing tasks; additionally, obesity contributes to serious health risks and can significantly shorten a dog’s lifespan.

Consult the Pros:

Consulting a qualified veterinarian (orthopedic/rehabilitation specialists, or canine sports medicine physical therapist) is strongly recommended for all service/assistance dogs that perform physical tasks. Radiographs (x-rays) or other tests may be recommended by the vet and are required by most service dog training organizations to determine if the dog is suitable for the demands of service dog work. We advise OFA or PennHip screenings, with the results in the normal to excellent range.

Harness users should consult a physician and physical therapist to determine what medical equipment is appropriate for their mobility needs. BLD harnesses are not intended to serve as, or to replace, a durable medical device such as a cane, walker, or crutch. Please understand that one should never lean on a dog to stay upright. Rigid metal handles must not be pushed or pulled on while the dog is in motion. Such use is not how the harness is intended to be used and could put the dog at risk for injury.

We generally process online orders within 24 hours during the week; orders placed Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be processed on Monday.

Online orders will receive an immediate automated conformation, then we’ll email directly to confirm we’ve personally processed your order!

We make every attempt to get orders shipped out as quickly as we can, and within  our given turnaround times. You’ll receive an automated shipping notice via email when your order is complete and on it’s way to you.

  • Turnaround times are noted on the product page; orders will ship when the item with the longest turnaround is complete. 
  • Popular items are in stock and ship out within 2 business days. 
  • Please allow time for “Made to Order” products to be created for you, as notated in the product listing. These specialized items are made-to-order in our own workshop! Please know we can’t ship it until it’s actually made. Most leash and collar orders are ready in 3-5 days.
  • Allow 10-14 days for full-custom-orders, Connected Control Harnesses, Tracking Harnesses
  • Allow 4-6 weeks for custom service dog harnesses to be created for you.
  • Some special orders, wholesale and volume orders can take 2-4 weeks to complete, and some special requests may take longer
  • Rush orders and expedited shipping may be available for an additional fee. Contact the workshop to discuss availability and options before you order if you need something quickly or by a specific date. Subject to availability (workload, materials on hand, etc. all play a factor).
  • We will communicate with you if your order falls outside of our regular turnaround times.
  • NOTE: We can only finish your order with complete details. If we have outstanding questions or require information from you to complete your order, the order will be placed on hold. Once the information is received your order will process as usual. A delay in replying will delay the order. 

We ship worldwide via USPS MAIL. The United States Postal Service is the most cost-effective and reliable method. The shopping cart will calculate the shipping charges and present options for the shipping method.

  • At checkout once the address has been entered, USPS mail shipping options will appear with delivery timeframes. Select the one you want. Here’s an example for a leash and collar order:
  • If you would like special delivery instructions, or insurance, please contact us. 
  • If you prefer FedEx as a shipping method, simply call and let us know. Additional shipping costs may apply. You must contact us directly to change from our regular shipping method.
  • You CAN change the shipping method after your order is placed, just let us know directly. Additional charges may apply. Please note: Bold Lead Designs cannot guarantee delivery time since it’s out of our control.

On occasion, the shopping cart miscalculates the shipping charges! If you were grossly overcharged, we will gladly issue a refund for excess shipping paid; don’t panic, we’ll take care of you. If you were undercharged, we’ll contact you and let you know the actual shipping costs.

International Orders

We ship anywhere! We are experienced with international orders and will complete the customs declaration to ensure timely delivery and minimal duties. 

All international orders (outside the USA) are shipped via the United States Postal Service. This is best service for the price but does NOT have tracking for most orders (tracking is not reliable once it leaves the states). This is the most cost-effective method and minimizes duties and fees to the recipient.

  • Most items ship via  PRIORITY MAIL 
  • Harnesses ship via INSURED  PRIORITY MAIL 
  • Delivery time depends on your country’s customs department

Service/Assistance Dog harnesses will ship with tracking and insurance for their full value. We do our best to declare Service/Assistance dog equipment as medical equipment / goods for blind or disabled. This usually avoids or minimizes duties, tariffs, and taxes but the final decision is controlled only by the country’s customs department and delivery agent determine
