Five O-rings are strategically placed along the length of this leash to offer the most configurations possible. This means that you can take the snap at either end of the leash and clip it to any of the O-rings to make your leash nearly any length you need! “Double Up” the leash by clipping TWO rings at once for even more variations.

Our 8-Way Leads features a bolt snap at each end, 3 fixed rings, and one loose ring. This leash does NOT HAVE A FIXED LOOP HANDLE, rather, it has a bolt snap at each end so you can use the leash in any configuration. This means that you can form a loop handle by clipping the bolt snap at the "handle-end" onto the first fixed ring. BLD’s Guide Dog Lead is a 2-position multi-functional leash and is a perfect choice for anyone who prefers a simple, versatile, yet no-nonsense leash. This leash has bolt snaps on each end and can be configured into a long and short length.

Our Guide Dog Leads are crafted with a special braid pattern for reliability (no rivets or stitching to wear out).

This leash is 63 inches (160 cm) in overall length including snaps and can be adjusted to make a 52 inch and 34 inch long leash (132 cm and 86 cm).

Width/Size and Hardware

Material and Width Options:

• The Chestnut Guide Dog Leash comes in 9/16 inch width (14.3 mm) with stainless steel hardware, with a LARGE SNAP at the dog end and medium size bolt snap at the handle end.
• The London Tan comes in 1/2 width (12.7 mm) and has medium size snaps solid brass snaps at both ends
• The Black latigo leather comes in 1/2 width (12.7 mm) and has medium size, stainless steel snaps at both ends

CHESTNUT English Bridle Leather in 9/16 inch width (14.3 mm) Chestnut is a rich red-ish brown color, and the texture and feel of English bridle leather is of unmistakable quality. It has the same characteristics as our London Tan. All hardware is stainless steel.

Our English Bridle Leather in LONDON TAN in 1/2 width has a supple, satin-smooth finish and satisfying hand feel that is simply unmatched. This high-end leather in London Tan, cherished in the 19th century for the finest horse tack, ages to a warm patina while keeping its light brown and orange tones. This full grain leather is 100% veg tanned with no metals or harsh chemicals from only the best North American cow hides. (“English” refers to the style of tanning rather than a location. Solid brass (gold colored) hardware is standard.

Our lovely BLACK LATIGO leather is solid black, and superior to ordinary leashes in texture and quality, cut from select from USA hides. It is incredibly durable, yet is very flexible. Feels great in your hands and will simply get better with age.

BLD’s Guide Dog Lead is a 2-position multi-functional leash and is a perfect choice for anyone who prefers a versatile yet no-nonsense leash. 

We designed this leash for use with a dog in harness, but it’s convenient features make it a great every day leash for walks, training, etc. The longer length is just right for leisurely walks, relaxing, or relieving. The short position is ideal for use with a guide harness handle. This versatile leash also can be used as a tie down by looping around a post.

Width/Size

• ½” wide (12.7 mm) for most dogs, medium and large breeds. Most popular size!
• ¾” wide (19 mm) for large breeds, this is a heavy-duty leash (not recommended for dogs under 80 pounds)
  

BLD’s exclusive JJ Special Wheelchair Leashes have been developed for people that have quadriplegia, those with limited strength, limited hand dexterity and/or arm movement, and anyone who simply needs a user-friendly option that is convenient to use with a wheelchair. Designed to work with our specially designed Leash Hook Attachment, these Wheelchair Leashes have multiple positions for different tasks and activities.

About the Design

The JJ Special Quad Leash

Originally custom-made for a client, this leash with three adjustable positions is quickly becoming a customer favorite. The JJ Special is compatible with most wheelchairs (manual or motorized) to allow for a short, medium, and long lengths. 

Three adjustable sections of leash are connected with O-rings which drop onto our specially designed Wheelchair Hook. This leash ends in an O-ring—a separate Traffic Lead handle can be clipped onto the O-ring to use as a regular leash if desired.

Each section adjusts 16-24” (40–61cm) in length so you can make each section the length you need to be safe for you and your dog.

• First Position: In the short position, the leash will allow your dog to work close to the chair without excess slack in the leash to get caught or tangled. 
• Second Position: The medium position may be perfect to allow the dog to get behind the wheelchair to go through a doorway, to move in front of the wheelchair, or to lay under a table.
• Third Position: At full length, the leash has plenty of room for retrieving or relieving.
• The overall length of leash is 4-6 feet (122-183 cm) depending on how each section is adjusted. You’ll make a one-time adjustment to each section so that the dog can perform their work without getting the leash tangled or caught in the wheels.

Assistance from a friend may be required to make the original adjustments.

 How to use the JJ Special:

1. First, drop the giant O-ring at the human end of the leash onto the Wheelchair Hook. This creates the long position.
2. Next, drop the giant O-ring in the middle of the leash onto the Wheelchair Hook to use the medium leash position.
3. For the short position, drop the third giant O-ring onto the hook. The leash is now looped up onto the hook to prevent the excess leash from dragging or snagging on objects or wheels.
4. To return to a longer length, simply lift one or two rings off the hook.
5. If desired, clip on a separate traffic lead handle to use as a regular leash.

If you decide three segments is too much leash for you, one segment can easily be removed.

Important Notes

These products are intended for use with fully trained service dogs/assistance dogs/pet dogs that have excellent leash manners. We’ve designed all of our Wheelchair Leash options to manually detach from the wheelchair in the event of an emergency situation. Why? Because it’s simply a smart idea!

Only you can determine if letting go of the leash and attaching it to your wheelchair is the right choice for you and your dog.

Attached leashes (fastened to a person, wheelchair, or another mobility device) are not safe for all dogs and/or users of wheelchair/mobility devices. Please choose your equipment wisely and use it responsibly.

Do not use wheelchair leashes with an untrained dog. Not for dogs that pull on the leash. Wheelchair leashes must NOT be used with dogs that lunge or are difficult to control, as this could be very dangerous. Additionally, DO NOT USE FOR PULLING A WHEELCHAIR.

Please note: If your strength or dexterity is limited, you may need assistance from a friend to install the wheelchair attachment and make the initial adjustment to the leash. Once attached and adjusted, the leash will remain at the desired length and is easy to connect to and remove from the wheelchair.
